I never had issues before so I didn't really know the customer support response time. I've reported it to customer support but I had to do 2nd or even a 3rd follow up just to get a reply. Secondly, I'm having problems with my account being inaccessible on my NAS but otherwise works when outside of it (my NAS device). First, there had been issues with upload speed. I never had problems with it until recently I had to send emails to customer support because of two issues. Additionally, my Synology NAS has a native application for it so that I'm able to backup NAS data securely and without any fuss. I never had major issues using it as it is the set-and-forget kind of tool. The most important factor for me is reliability and security and iDrive excels in both. However, Customer Support is a vital aspect of any business so they should do something to address it (based on my experiences). That's my only qualms about this product. I just hope they fix their customer support response times and I hope I get better answers next time. It works as described and your backups are guaranteed safe. However, as for Drive itself, it comes highly recommended and I strongly vouch for it. It was just recently when I had issues logging in and had unnecessary back and forth with customer support. IDrive is Everything I'm Looking For and MoreĪs for iDrive itself, I never had problems about reliability. There is no feature to expand storage on personal accounts beyond the original 10TB offered as of May 2022. The website doesn't state how much the product costs after the introductory offer which I'm sure holds a lot of people back. You can't manage your files once in the cloud with the same flexibility as an OS. It doesn't work very flexibly as a stand-alone cloud drive. Simple to use once set up.ĭesigned for backup so all its features want to mirror what's on your server / workstation. Good initial space allocation that is suited to the needs of content creators. With a few tighter security controls, better online file management and a simple cloud drive feature, it would be a winner. It hasn't been very difficult to work around its design flaws. If you keep backing up and deleting, you end up with a cloud folder so big that it exceeds the size of the source drive. You can only restore files and they restore back in the same folder in the same directory. You have to back things up and delete them, you can't just move files to the cloud like you can with pCloud. Icloud is designed for backup so all its features want to mirror what's on your server / workstation. Having said that, once my 10TB is used up, the website doesn't offer a way to expand, which sucks as I have more than 30TB I'd like to put in the cloud but nobody seems to want my money. I was lured in to iCloud by the price and the size of the cloud storage allocation, which seems to be a very inflexible feature of cloud storage in general. I don't have time to wade through their incomprehensible marketing and no need for their features, just a little black box in the cloud that I can afford and grows with my needs. I'm just a small photo business with around 30TB of assets and yet the likes of Google and Amazon treat me like I'm Nasa and want to sell me enterprise-level solutions. #IDRIVE REVIEWS 2018 ARCHIVE#I've been wanting to back up my image archive for a few years now, after a few scary experiences with FreeNas and TrueNas.
